Foodprint is launching a photography challenge about the Mediterranean Diet on October 16th, 2022, to coincide with World Food Day.

Photographers of all ages from all over the world are invited to submit images based on the theme ‘Food Heroes’ and participate in the creation of a collaborative work that will be presented at the ΕΜΣΤ National Museum of Contemporary Art Athens, in October 2023.

What is a ‘Food Hero’?

Food Heroes are the people, places or things that help us receive affordable, nutritious and sustainable food.  They are protectors of our health, defenders of the Earth’s natural resources, and guardians of social and cultural traditions! From scientists, farmers and cooks to a local grocery store and from vegetable gardens to fruit-bearing trees, our heroes help shape what and how we eat for the better. The theme of ‘Food Heroes’ is inspired by a campaign run by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), focused on raising awareness about sustainable food systems.

Participants may submit in two categories: single entry or portfolio (a story of two to five images) that tell a food story connected to the Mediterranean Diet. Please send the images, accompanied with a text caption of up to 100 words, to the email [email protected]. The submitted photos will be posted  on the Foodprint instagram and facebook pages throughout 2022-23.
