Pomegranate cultivation has noticeably increased in the past few years in Morocco and traditional plantings have been improved towards a more traditional cultivation. At the same time, market demand has also risen following consumer’s awareness of its benefits for human health.
Most of the pomegranate fruits are consumed in local markets and only a minor part (0.5%) is destined for export. The fruits are either consumed fresh or processed into juice.
