Ana Sofia Rendeiro was taught by her grandmother to clam-pick when she just was eight. Her mother decided not to pursue the family tradition, but Rendeiro is picking it up again, after years of working as a cook in different Portuguese restaurants.
Clam picking is traditionally a women’s profession, as men usually go to the sea to fish.
