Elena is a freelance photographer specialising in portrait and documentary photography. Her understanding of light and shadow and her sharp eye for the smallest detail convey meaning, creating images that make you stop and think.
Heatherwick’s award-winning work has featured in numerous magazines and newspapers including the New York Times and The Guardian. International assignments include projects for the United Nations and the International Rescue Committee.

For Foodprint, Elena travelled to the island of Crete to explore the theme of culinary heritage. She spent time with a family running a small tavern in a remote mountainous region. Three generations participate in the production of food products, such as cheese and vegetables, whilst also collecting seasonal wild plants from the mountains.
